So you are looking to start your own business? So you're ready to be your own boss?

That's great!! There's not a better way to gain control of your personal and fiscal life. Now it's time for the serious questions.

What business do I want to run?

What do I need to do to get started?

What hurdles are there in getting an business off the ground?

The business you decide to run should be something you love to do. From my personal experience, working and doing what you love makes all the difference in your life. Find something you love to do and you’ll never have to work a day in your life.

So you've found what you love to do. Now how can you get paid for it?

This is where there is some homework needs to be done. If you are modeling your business after a business that is already doing what you are looking to do, check and see if the business is doing well. Talk to business owners and find out how things are going. Most business owners are glad to discuss their business and you can learn a lot and shorten your learning curve.

Talking to professionals (accountants, lawyers) can also save a startup some trouble. These professionals typically know if you need to be a sole proprietor, an LLC (Limited Liability Corporation) or a corporation, what permits and licenses you will need to operate your business properly. They have helped others with businesses and they can provide you great advice.
